Dips For Chips
Here are some tasty dips for chips that you can make next time you get some guests. These also work wonderfully well with tortilla chips.
Horseradish And Sour Cream Dip
- 1 piece of horseradish root
- 2-3 tablespoon sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vinegar
- salt
Peel the horseradish and chop it into a few pieces, then put all the ingredients into a food processor and process until smooth. Fresh horseradish can irritate your eyes, so it`s best to work in a well-ventilated kitchen or outdoors with this vegetable.
Tomato Dip
- 500 g / 18 oz peeled fresh (or canned) tomatoes peeled
- 1 small, chopped onion
- 1 crushed garlic clove
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh or dried basil and fresh oregano
- black pepper
- salt
If you have fresh tomatoes, place them into boiling water for a few minutes, as this will make them easier to peel.
Cut the tomatoes and process in a food processor until smooth. Heat the olive oil in a pan, add the onion and the garlic. Sautee the onions until they become golden yellow and tender, then add the tomatoes, parsley, and celery leaves. Cook until it starts to boil, and season with salt and pepper, then cook the sauce for about 30 minutes, or until it thickens.
Hungarian Cottage Cheese Dip:
- 300 g / 10 oz cottage cheese
- 100 g / 3.5 oz sour cream
- 1 small onion, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt
- Pepper
Mix all the ingredients and stir until smooth.
Dill Dip
- 1 cup of mayonnaise
- 1 cup of sour cream
- 2 tbls dried parsley
- 2 tbls dried minced onion
- 2 tbls dill weed minced
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
Mix all ingredients together and enjoy.
Mayonnaise Dip With Green Herbs:
- 125 g / 4.5 oz mayonnaise
- 100 g / 3.5 oz Greek yogurt
- Salt
- Pepper
- 2 hard-boiled eggs
- 6 tablespoons mixed chopped green herbs: dill, parsley, celery leaves, chives, mint
Blend all the ingredients and let the sauce sit for a couple of hours before serving. Here are some more snack recipes.
